The Spindlemaster has become one of Sorby's most popular new skew chisels for wood turning incorporating both flat and oval faced cutting edges into a single tool.

The oval face helps eliminate grain tearout caused by the sharp corners of a conventional skew chisel, while still providing the smooth slicing action of a skew chisel. The flat faced side is designed for truing straight sections of your piece and cutting end grain. Large sturdy hardwood handles fit comfortably in the hand and give excellent control over your cut.

These chisels come in four sizes from micro to 1" and are well suited for shaping everything from delicate ornamental pieces to bed posts. The design incorporates a free spinning sanding pad on an adjustable pivoting head akin to a long armed random orbital sander. The rotating action of the head nearly eliminates sanding marks common with static hand held methods and effectively extends the life of your cutting surface by continually un-loading the abrasive. The sponge pad also ensures that there are no hard spots to scratch your work.

The tool is equipped with Sorby's large sturdy hardwood handle that fits comfortably in the hands and gives excellent control over your work, the pivoting head allows access to even the most contorted surfaces.

Hook and loop sanding disks are available from 60 to grit, and for a 2" or 3" pad. For that particularly fine polish a buffing pad mandrel is also available.
